MY PERFECT DAY IN PARIS

Romée de Goriainoff is the globetrotting co-founder of Experimental Group, the sizzling hot French hospitality group behind the coolest bars, restaurants, nightclubs and hotels in Paris, London, New York & Ibiza. A Parisian at heart, Romée shares his favourite way to spend 24 hours in Paris....

Which hotel would you like to wake up in?

RG:  Since the legendary Hotel Ritz Paris re-opened last June following almost 4 years of restoration, I'm tempted to pick this one. Is there any better location in the world than Place Vendôme, especially to grasp a little bit of magic left in this world …? However, I'd most likely wake up super late – probably one minute before check out!  Whether you love opulence and luxury, the Ritz is the Ritz, and no hotel can beat that. It's unique.

Where do you like to go for coffee?

RG:  I would start my day drinking a turmeric latte – my new favourite drink! – at Wild and the Moon in the Marais. It's a great alternative to coffee, with a combination of turmeric root juice and nut milk. Wild and the Moon is a great healthy café and is one the few places where you can find a turmeric latte in Paris.

What are your favourite areas in Paris to wander around?

RG:  I've come to realise that it actually depends on the season. Right now, I love walking around the Palais Royal Garden. It is such a beautiful part of Paris, yet strangely, it's not overcrowded. The best boutiques are there, and you can take a break and sip a coffee at Kitsune – a coffee shop launched by Maison Kitsuné, the Parisian electronic music and fashion label – while sitting at one of their outdoor tables in the garden. I also love the Tuileries Garden, where I go jogging 3 or 4 times a week. Running through the Tuileries Garden always reminds you that Paris is definitely unique.

Where do you love to go for lunch in Paris?

RG:  As my office in Paris is close to the Montorgueil pedestrian area, I often go for lunch at one of my restaurants, Bachaumont, which you'll find in the hotel of the same name. However, I also love discovering new places, including two great restaurants: La Bourse ou La Vie, close to Palais Royal, by American chef Daniel Rose; and Jaïs by the Mimoun brothers in the 7th district, close to Invalides. When autumn arrives, a long business lunch at chef Stephane Jego's legendary bistro, l’Ami Jean, is also a fantastic, lively place to enjoy a never-ending gourmand French meal!

What are your favourite museums in Paris?

RG:  My favourite museum is the Centre Pompidou, as it is one of the most interesting contemporary museums in the world. It showcases amazing art collections and exhibitions all year long, and its architecture by Renzo Piano is really distinct.

Where do you love to go for dinner?

RG:  Passerini by chef Giovanni Passerini! I love this Italian chef, who is originally from Rome. His new restaurant close to Bastille is outstanding, with a cool 1960s Italian retro design and a creative Italian menu. It's a perfect place to come for any occasion: for a date, for business or with friends.

Where do you like to go for drinks?

RG:  I would go to one of the many great cocktail bars that Paris has to offer right now! Recently, I really enjoyed Danico cocktail bar, which is run by Nicolas de Soto, one of our former bartenders at Experimental Cocktail Club.
