MY PERFECT DAY IN PARIS

The leading light of her generation, award-winning Parisian designer Dorothée Meilichzon has brought her signature interiors to many of Paris, New York and London's coolest cocktail bars, restaurants and boutique hotels.  She reveals her insider address book of her favourite places in The City of Light.

Which hotel would you like to wake up in?

DM:  I was lucky enough to visit the gigantic construction site of the recently re-opened Ritz Paris several times, and as I am fascinated by construction given that I'm a designer, it was so amazing! So I would love to wake up there now that it's reopened! If I am allow to dream, I would choose the huge suite under the rooftop with a view overlooking the Opera Garnier.

Where do you like to go for coffee?

DM:  At Café Pinson, rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, a vegan restaurant which I designed three years ago, or at Lockwood on rue d'Aboukir, a coffeeshop which has even opened its own "brûlerie" coffee roasting venue in Belleville!

What are your favourite areas in Paris?

DM:  I love wandering around Les Puces de Saint-Ouen flea market on Sundays to look for antiques, especially around rue des Rosiers. I also love the Marché Paul Bert Serpette which is the largest antiques market in the world!

Where do you love to go for lunch in Paris?

DM:  Bachaumont restaurant in the Montorgueil pedestrian district. French chef Gregory Marchand, who runs the nearby Frenchie restaurant, collaborated with the Bachaumont team to create a fantastic French menu.

What are your favourite places to visit in Paris?

DM:  The Centre Georges Pompidou (Beaubourg), the Galerie Kreo in Saint Germain, the Bon Marché, the Pont Neuf, or any bridge in Paris – I love to be near the water.

Where do you love to go for dinner?

DM:  The recently-opened Italian restaurant, Loulou, in the Arts Décoratifs Museum is always a great place, which has the garden of the Louvre as its background. I also love the new Passerini restaurant by chef Giovanni Passerini, near the Marché d'Aligre, which serves some of the best Italian cuisine in Paris at the moment.

Where do you like to go for drinks?

DM:  I love Danico, a new cocktail bar opened by top mixologist Nicolas de Soto, which is located inside the Daroco restaurant which is set within a former Jean Paul Gautier boutique.
